Post Surgery Care: Facelift

Facelift, also known as rhytidectomy, is a cosmetic surgery procedure to improve the overall facial appearance for a youthful look. There are several types of facelift surgeries such as endoscopic face lift, mid face lift, mini face lift and thread face lift.

During the facelift surgery, excess skin and fat are trimmed away through incisions that separate the skin from the underlying tissue. After the surgery is performed it is very important to avoid strenuous activities such as heavy housework, physical intercourse, exposure to sun, alcohol, steam baths and saunas.

It is always better to refrain from smoking, consumption of alcohol and the intake of aspirin or any anti-inflammatory drugs, during the recovery period. For a quick recovery it is very important to keep the head elevated especially when sleeping and to drink a lot of water.

It is very important to follow the instructions of the plastic surgeon and take plenty of rest. The recovery period for the face lift surgery depends on the type of surgery undergone and is usually around 10 days to two weeks.
